The penalty right now for underage drinking is not enough. The penalty for drinking underage first offence they find you between 100 and 300 dollars. Also have to complete 20 hours of comity service. Then after all that is done the teen has to attend a class on abuse of alcohol. It’s like this currently now in 2012. I’m a teen myself and I have many friends that drink. There not afraid of the laws or the penalties right now. In my opinion the penalty should be harsher. Something that would make teens thinks twice before abusing alcohol or drinking. Like instead of that take them to jail lock them up for a night and make them pay 300 dollars also committee hours and classes. All that works for drinking well get them scared. Now it’s up to you to think what better penalties like… Adult can’t just sit around while your children drink and destroys their life. Parents, adults, and teacher must inform teens on alcohol abuse. This is one of those things most adults don’t do anything about. Also there is those adults that encourage teens to drink. To above this parents and adults shouldn’t drink in front of teens. They should encourage teens not to drink. The thing is that if they see famous people drink. May so happen that there their idol they think it’s cool to drink alcohol. They feel they have to drink in order to be cool too. Adultsit’s obligation to help put an end to this problem with teens. This is why we need an DARE program in high school focus on the problems that it bring to them.
We also need free rehab for teens that want to stop the abuse. this is our future make the choice.
